Dinbar Longwalker d'Sivis

Background

Dinbar d'Sivis was born into the Longwalker family line of House Sivis during The Last War, in the year 962YK.

His mother Elly Davandi d'Sivis died when he was only 3. His father, Istravar Longwalker d'Sivis, was an accountant in a Sivis family Notary department, a trade Dinbar was expected to take up when coming of age.

Dinbar though found more joy in the writing of words than numbers and began to write short stories, keeping this fact secret from his over compensatory strict father.

He also liked to dabble with alchemy and became quite adept at various recipes.

At the age of sixteen he had a blazing row with his father one evening, where he announced he did not want to be an accountant but was planning to apply for a dangerous job as a War Reporter for the Korranburg Chronicle.

And so he did, he applied for the job and after training was dispatched at the age of eighteen to various war torn parts of The Five Nations, to report accurately on the goings on of the war.

His father has not spoken to him since that evening.

Working Life

Dinbar always writes the truth when reporting, but tries to colour his reports with his prosaic storytelling skills at the same time.

His first job was to cover the coronation of Queen Aurala and the beginning of her reign of Aundair in 980YK.

In 986YK Dinbar was in the Graywall Mountains when King Boranel of Breland evacuated the settlers and ceded the land west of the Mountains to the Daughters of Sora Kell thereby creating the nation of Droaam.

In 990YK he witnessed and reported on the launch of House Lyranders first elemental airships.

In 991YK Dinbar had another Royal appointment when he reported on the coronation of the young King Kaius III when he came of age and took charge of Korrnath from his Aunt, the Regent.

In 996YK Dinbar was dispatched to the signing of The Treaty of Thronehold, officially marking the end of the Last War.

After the Last War

Since the end of the Last War, Dinbar has retained a job as a reporter for the Korranburg Chronicle, although not full time. In his spare time he has been working on his first novel, spending much time in the Library of Korranburg researching old stories and books on technical aspects of writing.

In the Library, Dinbar has become good friends with the Professor Ullswater, intrigued by the Professor's story of his lost powers, Dinbar has agreed to accompany him on a journey to discover his lost memory. It'll be a good way to get a story.

As they travel Dinbar will also be able to look for news to submit back to the offices of the Korranburg Chronicle.
